A Message from our President:
The Rotary Club of York – North is a group of approximately 40 active and engaged individuals with “hearts for service” to make a positive impact in their community and around the world. The 2023-2024 theme to “Create Hope in the World” is evident in our variety of service projects. Locally we partner with Servants’ Northeast Workcamp repairing residences for those who are unable to perform the work for either physical or financial reasons. We regularly support the Margaret E. Moul Home, Harvest of Blessing, Couselor Park Baseball Program, Adopt-A-Highway Clean Up and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay with donation drives and in-person volunteering. We recently championed and fully coordinated a local/District 7390/Rotary International medical mission project in Argentina providing significant funds to purchase and fit-out an “Interdisciplinary Care Center for the Care of Children and Adolescents with Neuro-Developmental Pathologies” or more simply, supplying a pediatric medical unit with much needed pediatric medical equipment to be able to assess children and teens who may have autism, epilepsy, ADHD, Tourette’s or congenital neurological disorders. Another significant local project we completed is “Math Is A Super Power” providing math education for adults looking to advance their careers and needing the extra math skill sets for advancement.
We actively support our youth, both locally and internationally! York-North has consistently participated in Rotary Internationals’ Youth Exchange Program by sponsoring local students to travel abroad and to host international students visiting our region. It is Rotary International’s mission to create international bonds to foster peace and goodwill across the globe. We are excited for our next exchange! We currently support three local school districts by providing Christmas gifts for those in need, sponsor students to attend Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) intensive leadership experience, high school senior scholarships and awarding students of the month throughout the school year.
The Rotary International President R. Gordon McInally’s theme for the 2023-2024 Rotary calendar year is “Create Hope in the World.” As President McInally states, “Rotary helps create the conditions for peace, opportunity, and a future worth living. By continuing what we do best, by remaining open and willing to change, and by keeping our focus on building peace in the world and within ourselves, Rotary helps create a more peaceful world – a more hopeful world.”
All are welcome to join us the first three Thursdays of the month at 7:20am for our breakfast meetings! Rotary Club of York – North meets at the Four Points Sheraton, 1650 Toronita Street, York, PA 17402. If you have a “heart for service” and looking for like-minded people to make a positive change in the world, please join us!
In Rotary,
Danika Dallam
President
