Not familiar with Rotary? Perhaps these answers to frequently asked questions will help you decide if Rotary is for you!
What is Rotary?
Rotary is a worldwide organization of business, professional and retired persons committed to humanitarian service, high ethical standards and the building of goodwill and peace.
Who is the Rotary Club of York – North?
We are a fellowship of big-hearted people whose common goal is to put the Rotary’s 4-Way Test into daily practice:
The 4-Way test of the things we think, say or do
Is it the Truth?
Is it Fair to all concerned?
Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?
Why should you join us?
Our experience with Covid-19 has reminded us of the importance of community, of the goals we can accomplish when we join together and of the needs of our community, country and world. Each of us has a special gift and when we bring them together, good things happen!
I think of Rotary as a 3 legged stool.
One leg is our International goals. Whether sponsoring an exchange student, helping eradicate polio or digging wells which provide fresh water for millions, when over 1 million Rotarians join together, great things happen!
The 2nd leg is Community Service. Each month our club finds an area in which we can volunteer our time and resources to help improve lives. And to keep us informed about our community, our weekly programs apprise and educate us about area businesses, non-profits and our government.
The 3rd leg is Rotary Means Business. While not a “hard-core” networking group we do encourage members to consider using Rotarian owned businesses. Perhaps more importantly, the friendships made can lead to life-long relationships both inside and outside of business.
Finally, why am I a Rotarian? There are at least 5 reasons!
The kindness of my fellow Rotarians
The opportunities for volunteerism
The satisfaction that comes from working as a team
The important information I learn each week about York and surrounding areas
The opportunity to participate in the international synergy which makes measurable improvements to people’s lives.
